People are always asking me what I specialize in. It’s a good question especially if you are about to hire a photographer to photograph your family or child. I have to say that there is a lot that people specialize in when it comes to photography and if you specialize in something that means…well…..that you do ONE thing very well….right? So many of us photographers say we specialize in family, children, kids, maternity…bla bla bla….. Have you seen that before? Do you ask how you can specialize in so many things? My answer to that is that I “specialize” in capturing images that move you. I want you to look at a photo and remember a feeling. Not much that I do is very posed because posed photos really do nothing for me and just remind me of taking pictures at school with someone behind a camera, squeezing a squeaky toy and asking me to say cheese…yep, that’s cheesy. I don’t like cheesy. I LOVE photos that tell a story. I LOVE photos that make me cry. I LOVE photos I can stare at. I LOVE photos that make my memories come to life. I LOVE photos that allow me to share my memories out loud without saying anything. Because I LOVE these kinds of photos for me, all my clients get these kinds of photos. I “specialize” in the kinds of photos that I LOVE. I WISH I had pictures of my children like the photo in this post. I didn’t know how valuable these kinds of moments were and I didn’t realize how fast my babies would grow. I missed this time, you shouldn’t! And to answer more than the original question of what I specialize in, I can tell you one thing for sure. My favorite kind of session, is a Newborn Session.

So I am a little partial to great shopping! I just love this store and if you haven’t gone I know that you will love it! I went there today to meet up with Jennifer and take some shots of her store for some new cards she’s making and can you believe it! She is having a 25% off sale right now to make room for FALL! I just love mine…I have 2 one for each of my boys! But the great thing is that you can use them for so many things..even after you’re kids are out of diapers. Think about it! OKAY! So my very very good friend….since second grade…Roxanne Benton with Pixel 2 Canvas, told me all about the 2008 BBQ Smackdown in San Diego, August 4th! Sounds like a blast! I checked it out and my heart just totally bleeds for those charities, such as Now I lay Me Down To Sleep. If you aren’t familiar with this organization you should get familiarized with it. They are incredible and play a key instrument in helping families cope with the loss of a baby or infant. Things I pray I will never go through with a friend of family member, and I pray and wish no one had to. This BBQ supports the efforts of this organization! MPIX is also a sponsor along with Jill-E Designs (got to get one of those bags!) I will be there with my hubby and our 2 golden tickets! WILL YOU????

I am very excited to go with Roxanne! I am not sure that very many people know this but I am about to start my very own NPO (non profit organization). I have great plans, just need some more great people who are willing and wanting to help out! I will soon start a new blog for this but I just have so many details to figure out! I know that Kristie Hancock and Dawn Davis (both Caribbean Queens) as well as Maria Monte, and Roxanne have shared their interest to help me out! Actually when we get this started and I have no idea where, when or how, ANYONE who helps out will be helping many many women! So if any of you reading this have an inside to someone who knows a lot about starting and running an NPO………let em know I need their help!
